Empowering Young Lives Through Support and Peace
Not One More’s Youth Violence Intervention & Prevention Program
The Not One More Youth Violence Intervention and Prevention Program is a collaborative effort between Penn State Berks, RIZE, and the Berks Youth Anti-Violence Coalition. The program serves youth and young adults ages 14-24 using an evidence-based, public health approach to curing violence.
Specifically, the provides intense support for youth with the highest risk of engaging in violence, empowers credible messengers (persons who have influence in the community) and other residents (youth and adults) as peacemakers who are trained to intervene and de-escalate conflicts that could lead to violence, and works to change communal norms that make violence an acceptable response to conflict.
These strategies are employed without the threat of punishment or an increase in policing.
The Not One More Violence Prevention and Intervention Program is funded by by a grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
